Eastman School of Music's Bachelor of Music in Music Education program prepares students to become articulate leaders in music teaching and learning. Students select General, Vocal, or Instrumental emphases and pursue hands-on teaching experiences in local Rochester schools, as well as innovative research programs in instrumental, choral, and early childhood music education. The curriculum includes applied music lessons, large ensemble participation, music theory, music history, keyboard proficiency, humanities, and specialized courses in music teaching and learning. Graduates have a high placement rate in music education careers and may pursue double majors or certificates in arts leadership or world music.
