The BA in Asian Languages and Literature at the University of Iowa enables students to achieve advanced proficiency in either Chinese or Japanese while gaining broad exposure to Asian civilizations, including their histories, literatures, and cultures. The program is designed to cultivate language competence, deep cultural knowledge, and critical thinking skills. Students engage in coursework spanning language instruction, literature, history, anthropology, political science, religion, and art.
