The M.Ed. in Higher Education at UMass Amherst’s College of Education prepares students for leadership and administrative roles in universities and colleges. The curriculum covers foundational theory and key research in higher education as well as interdisciplinary perspectives from sociology, psychology, history, and economics. Students complete assessment, evaluation, and research projects on student experiences and higher education organizations. The program culminates with a capstone Integrative Seminar, where students develop and defend a case study project. Graduates are prepared for university administration and further doctoral study. There is an option for a dual degree with a Master’s in Public Policy Administration. Undergraduate students may also enroll via a 4+1 accelerated track.
