The Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (College of Humanities & Fine Arts) is a highly competitive, fully funded graduate program designed for aspiring professional artists. The program immerses students in a creative environment that is both supportive and challenging, with opportunities for rigorous studio practice, critical dialogue, and interdisciplinary exploration. Students are not restricted to a single medium or discipline, reflecting the contemporary art scene. The curriculum includes a comprehensive overview of teaching art in higher education, opportunities for teaching assistantships (provided to all admitted students), and access to facilities 24/7. The program leverages resources from the Five College Consortium. Students must complete 60 graduate credits, culminating in a thesis project and public presentation.
