UMass Amherst's Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology, offered by the School of Public Health and Health Sciences, prepares graduates for advanced clinical and professional roles in speech, language, and swallowing disorders. The program includes 15 specialized courses and requires 400 hours of supervised clinical experience in the Center for Language, Speech, and Hearing and at least two additional off-campus settings (such as hospitals, schools, clinics, or early intervention programs). Graduates meet the clinical requirements for the ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) and are eligible for licensure as Specialist Teachers in Massachusetts. The program also provides an option to complete a graduate certificate in multiculturalism in communication disorders. All courses are conducted in-person, with no online study mode.
