UMass Amherst's Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering is a two-year graduate program, offering advanced study and participation in academic research led by faculty. Students can focus in areas such as nanoelectronic devices, complex sensing systems, embedded systems, wireless communication, robotics, power electronics, artificial intelligence, and more. The curriculum blends foundational coursework (e.g., Advanced Digital Systems Design, Linear Systems Theory, Computer Architecture, Wireless Communication Systems) with electives and thesis/project options. Students have access to research opportunities, industry internships, and can choose an area of concentration, which appears on their diploma and transcript. The Field Experience Concentration includes a required full-time experiential learning activity (internship, co-op, or practicum) during the first year.
