The EdM in Language & Literacy Education at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is a non-licensure graduate program designed for professionals who wish to study literacy development and language acquisition. The program provides foundational knowledge in literacy, language acquisition, linguistics, and Deaf studies, emphasizing research and practice in language and literacy development across home, school, and community contexts. The program is tailored for individuals with clear educational interests and goals, allowing them to select courses that best fit their intellectual and career needs. It does not lead to initial teacher licensure, but may prepare students to seek such licensure or advanced roles in language and literacy leadership, curriculum development, policy, and research.
