Boston University's Sargent College offers the Master of Science in Nutrition (MS Nutrition), a STEM-eligible graduate program designed for students advancing in nutrition science or seeking the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential. The program builds expertise in human nutrition, evidence-based practice, and communication. There are two main tracks:
- The MS/DI (Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetic Internship) integrates graduate coursework and a 29-week full-time supervised practice, preparing graduates to sit for the RDN exam. This path is ideal for those holding a Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) or Foreign Dietitian Education (FDE) Verification Statement.
- The traditional MS in Nutrition (two-semester option) is designed for applicants not seeking the RDN credential but aiming for careers or advanced education in nutrition research, public health, or industry, and includes a research project and optional practicum.
The MS/DI program involves advanced coursework, clinical simulation training, a practicum in a specialized area, and access to expert interprofessional faculty. Both tracks are STEM-eligible (allowing international students to apply for STEM OPT extension).
