The Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) in Applied Biomechanics at Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine is a one-year, full-time graduate program focusing on craniofacial, cellular, and dental biomechanics. The curriculum prepares students with interdisciplinary training in clinically relevant principles, integrating biomaterials and functional biomechanics to improve craniofacial restorations. Students gain foundational knowledge in interpreting biophysical and biochemical assays, including dynamic cell cultures and finite element modeling (FEM) techniques. The program investigates the impact of occlusal alterations on gait and stability, dental engineering principles, and the relationship between biomaterial properties and restoration performance. Designed for those pursuing careers in research, academia, or clinical dentistry, requirements include completion of coursework, a research project, and a thesis defense.
