The LLM in American Law Program at Boston University School of Law is a highly flexible, one-year, full-time graduate law program specifically designed for internationally trained lawyers. Students are fully integrated into the JD curriculum, allowing them to select from over 200 courses alongside American JD students, covering foundational U.S. law subjects and dozens of specialized topics. The program prepares students to understand U.S. doctrine and develop the analytical and advocacy skills distinctive to U.S. legal training. Students may focus their studies in areas such as International Business Practice, Intellectual Property, or Taxation, and earn certificates of specialization if requirements are met. The program fosters a truly global perspective and aims to make graduates effective practitioners in cross-border and U.S.-related legal matters.
