The Bachelor of Arts in European Studies at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, Boston University, is an interdisciplinary program focused on the modern and contemporary period of Europe (18th–21st centuries). Students develop comprehensive knowledge in European language, culture, politics, and history through a flexible curriculum drawing on the resources of 13 College of Arts & Sciences departments and BU’s study abroad options in Europe. The major requires ten principal courses: at least four in the humanities and four in the social sciences, plus a multidisciplinary capstone course. Three courses must be advanced (level 400+). Majors must demonstrate proficiency in a European language other than English through at least the sixth-semester level. The program prepares graduates for advanced study or professional work in international contexts involving Europe.
