The Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) at Columbia University’s School of Social Work is one of the most established and highly regarded social work programs in the world. The Advanced Clinical Practice track is designed to prepare students for direct clinical practice with individuals, families, and groups, emphasizing social and economic justice, evidence-based interventions, and diverse populations. In the second year, students select an advanced clinical specialization and one of seven practice fields such as Health, Mental Health & Disabilities, or Family, Youth & Children’s Services. The curriculum includes approximately 60 credits: 42 through coursework and 18 through hands-on practicum experiences, totaling about 1,200 hours of supervised fieldwork in numerous clinical settings in the US. Graduates are prepared for clinical licensure (LMSW/LCSW) and diverse career opportunities in social work clinical settings.
