The B.A. in Applied Mathematics offered at the Columbia University School of General Studies provides a rigorous and flexible foundation in mathematical theory and its real-world applications. Students study multivariable calculus, linear algebra, probability theory, and select two electives, with at least one from the Mathematics Department and the other possibly from approved cognate fields. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for diverse careers in STEM, finance, data science, policy, or further graduate studies. GS students complete the university's core curriculum, including writing, humanities, science, and quantitative reasoning requirements.
