The B.A. in Neuroscience and Behavior at Columbia University's School of General Studies is co-sponsored by the Department of Psychology and the Department of Biological Sciences. The curriculum integrates biological sciences and psychological science, covering areas such as research methods, cognition, neuroscience, development, social behavior, and clinical psychology. The program prepares students for further graduate study or professional paths in social work, education, medicine, law, and business. Completion of the major requires eleven courses: at least six from Biological Sciences and at least five from Psychology, in addition to one year of general chemistry. Students are expected to work closely with advisors to ensure appropriate course selection and may transfer a limited amount of coursework from other institutions under certain restrictions. The curriculum emphasizes in-person learning for core requirements and includes research opportunities.
