The Film and Digital Media B.A. at the University of California, Santa Cruz offers an integrated and inclusive liberal arts program. Students analyze and produce work relating to film, television, video, animation, games, and other media forms. The curriculum is both theoretical and practical, covering media's cultural impact, critical studies, and creative production skills. Courses connect students with faculty expertise in global cinema, feminist and queer media, animation, software and games, and digital art. The program is designed for a broad range of interests including film history, critical theory, digital production, and encourages collaborative, interdisciplinary work. Students may take both critical studies and production classes, and may choose to focus with pathways such as Integrated Critical Practice. Graduates pursue careers in media industries or move on to top graduate programs.
