The Bachelor of Arts in Feminist Studies at UC Santa Cruz offers an interdisciplinary approach to examining how gender impacts social, political, and cultural formations. Established in 1974 as Women’s Studies and renamed Feminist Studies in 2005, the program emphasizes critical feminist, queer, decolonial, and intersectional methods. Students must complete 10 courses—three core courses and seven upper-division electives—and a senior comprehensive exit requirement (senior seminar, thesis, or project). The major prioritizes feminist analytic frameworks across multiple global, historical, and disciplinary contexts.
