The Education, Democracy, and Justice (EDJ) B.A. at UC Santa Cruz offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the history and politics of education and public schooling, the formation of just and democratic societies, and the transformative role of education in addressing issues of equity and diversity. Students explore theories of cognition, learning, identity, knowledge production, and pedagogy, with a specific focus on U.S. educational contexts, including the impact of immigration and globalization.
