The Dual Degree MPH/MPA program at Brown University is jointly offered by the School of Public Health and the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. It is a rigorous program built for intellectually curious, highly motivated students who wish to gain expertise in both public health and public policy. The curriculum includes 17 total courses (14 full courses and 6 half courses), a practicum, and an Integrated Learning Experience (ILE, often a thesis or capstone). The approach is learning-by-doing, preparing graduates to address critical health policy issues locally and globally. Students benefit from rich academic resources at both schools and extensive applied learning opportunities throughout the US and worldwide. The program typically starts in summer and can be completed in 2–2.5 years, but must be finished within 5 years.
