This program is designed for Brown undergraduates who wish to continue directly after their bachelor’s degree to obtain a Master of Arts (A.M.) in Biostatistics. The A.M. degree emphasizes rigorous training in statistical theory and methods, programming, and real-world application relevant to public health, biology, clinical medicine, and biomedicine. Students gain expertise in statistical inference, modeling, advanced data analysis, statistical computing, and the communication of quantitative results. The program requires 8 courses: 4 core biostatistics courses, 4 electives, and an online public health foundations course. Two courses must be completed during undergraduate studies, with six taken in graduate residence. The curriculum fosters professional skills for careers as statisticians/data analysts or as preparation for doctoral study, with required engagement in the Individual Development Plan.
