The Bachelor of Arts in International and Public Affairs – Development Track at Brown University’s Thomas J. Watson Jr. School of International and Public Affairs is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program focused on the study of global economic, political, and social changes and their impact on development. This track integrates coursework in economics, political science, sociology, and related fields to prepare students for careers addressing challenges such as global poverty, inequality, and sustainable development. The program features a core curriculum and specialized tracks—including Development—offering hands-on, policy-relevant learning and opportunities for experiential education. The new Watson School, effective July 1, 2025, builds on decades of expertise from the Watson Institute, expanding research, interdisciplinary faculty, and real-world engagement for undergraduates in international and public affairs.
