The Bachelor of Arts in International and Public Affairs with a Policy and Governance Track at the Thomas J. Watson Jr. School of International and Public Affairs, Brown University, is a multidisciplinary program that examines domestic and global challenges through the lens of policy design, implementation, and evaluation. The curriculum emphasizes analytical, research, and writing skills to prepare graduates for engagement as global citizens. Students undertake a sequence of 11 courses, including a common core, a track-specific foundational course, electives, as well as qualitative and quantitative methodology classes. This track specifically focuses on understanding how policies are generated and assessed, the factors shaping policy decisions, implementation processes, and the influence of power, civil society, and analytical tools in governmental policy. Students are encouraged to build expertise in a country, region, or issue area for a tailored educational experience. The Watson School, established in July 2025, sustains Brown’s tradition of interdisciplinary, policy-driven education.
