This two-year full-time MSc course at Coventry University's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences prepares graduates from various backgrounds to become registered learning disabilities nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). The program adopts a blend of theoretical modules and four structured practice placements, providing approximately 50% practical, placement-based learning. Key areas include person-centred care, clinical and communication skills, comprehensive health assessments, and support for people with learning disabilities and complex health needs across the lifespan. Students develop skills in evidence-based care, multidisciplinary teamwork, therapeutic interventions, and professional leadership. All teaching is designed to promote equality, compassion, and effective advocacy for individuals with learning disabilities.
