This practice-based, outward-facing course prepares students to be versatile, flexible, and adaptable musicians within the 21st-century music industry. Students learn to compose, write songs, produce, record, and perform to audiences using today’s technologies and professional practices. The curriculum emphasizes developing technical fluency, study skills, and professional behavior, and covers topics including band musicianship, songwriting, music in television and film, and music business. Work placements and collaborations are available, allowing students hands-on experience. Graduates are equipped for careers in performance, songwriting, music production, and related industries, or for further study.
