The Bachelor of Biomedicine (Honours) at The University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is a one-year advanced research-focused program, following completion of an eligible 3-year undergraduate degree. Students undertake specialist coursework and an independent research project supervised by experts within the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct. The program aims to increase technical sophistication and research independence, preparing graduates for clinical pathways or higher research degrees (such as Doctor of Medicine). Coursework strengthens understanding of biomedical science, while the research component provides real-world laboratory experience. Support includes mentoring, participation in Honours student conferences, and opportunities for industry internships. Graduates develop high-level analytical, experimental, and communication skills relevant for biomedical research careers or further professional study.
