The Executive Master of Policy Leadership (EMPL) at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy is a rigorous, interdisciplinary 30-credit program redesigned for experienced professionals with at least 10 years of work experience who aim to move into senior policy leadership roles. The curriculum integrates economics and political science with public policy and administration, emphasizing foundational policy skills, analytical abilities, and leadership development. The structure includes seven core courses (covering policymaking, management, economic analysis, ethics, evaluation, and budgeting), two electives, and a capstone project. In-person, weeklong sessions every six to eight weeks promote experiential learning, simulations, and mentoring by leadership practitioners. The program is flexible to accommodate working professionals and offers extensive opportunities for networking in Washington, DC, as well as access to a robust alumni network. Graduates gain skills to lead policy changes across sectors, supported by hands-on mentorship, practical projects, and an emphasis on ethical, evidence-driven policy leadership.
