The Regional and Comparative Studies (RCST) major at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service provides students with the opportunity to concentrate on the detailed study of one or more world regions. Students combine coursework from multiple disciplines to gain a nuanced understanding of specific regions, their societies, politics, cultures, economies, and global roles. The program equips students to excel in careers in international relations, government, nonprofits, and academia. A hallmark of the RCST major is the flexibility to specialize in one or two regions or to design an alternative focus, with the curriculum including region-specific courses, language study for the chosen region, and training in theories and methods. Students engage deeply with analytical tools, comparative approaches, and have the option to undertake an honors thesis or a capstone portfolio in their senior year.
