The Master of Science in Mathematics at Heidelberg University (Ruprecht Karls University Heidelberg), offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, is a consecutive graduate program designed to deepen and expand mathematical knowledge and competencies. The program aims to equip students with advanced skills in abstract reasoning, effective mathematical communication, and independent research through a combination of coursework and a master's thesis. Students have considerable flexibility to design their individual course trajectory, choosing from advanced modules in various mathematical subfields and an application area such as Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, or Philosophy. The program is structured to include core mathematics, an application area, interdisciplinary skills, and the master's thesis. The language of instruction is predominantly German, with some courses offered in English. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in academia, research institutes, industry (including software, finance, and consultancy), or for doctoral studies.
