Heidelberg University's Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Mathematics and Computer Science, offered by the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, prepares graduates to teach mathematics and computer science at German secondary schools (Gymnasium, secondary level). The program combines advanced subject-specific scientific studies with didactics courses. Students gain both theoretical and practical skills in teaching methods, curriculum design, and interdisciplinary education. The curriculum allows students to explore didactic reduction and teaching practice modules, such as 'Geometrie und Unterricht' integrating geometry and teaching methodology, as well as similar structures for computer science didactics. The M.Ed. is a consecutive, practice-oriented program, often pursued after a corresponding Bachelor’s degree, and is taught in German. The program offers flexibility to begin studies in either the winter or summer semester.
