The Magister Theologiae at the Faculty of Theology, Heidelberg University, is a comprehensive, research-intensive program that covers all major areas of Protestant theology. Students receive a theoretically and empirically robust education in Old and New Testament studies, church and dogmatic history, systematic theology (including dogmatics, ethics, ecumenical theology, and religious philosophy), religious studies, intercultural theology, and practical theology (homiletics, religious education, pastoral psychology, church theory, and diaconal studies). Graduates are prepared for clergy positions in the Evangelical Church or advanced theological research. The program encourages an interdisciplinary approach, with recognized elective modules from across the university, and requires proficiency in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin (proof of Hebraicum, Graecum, and Latinum before the intermediate exam).
