The Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Medical Faculty Mannheim, Heidelberg University, is a consecutive, research-oriented, interdisciplinary program primarily taught in English. It incorporates mathematics, physics, engineering, biology, and medicine to solve health science questions relevant to diagnostics and therapeutics. The curriculum is heavily focused on medical physics, computer and data science, and the development and application of advanced biomedical devices and computational methods. Key areas include radiotherapy, imaging physics, computational medical physics, robotics, and automation in medicine. The program prepares graduates for careers in the healthcare, life science, and technology sectors—particularly in medical technology industries, academia, research organizations, and hospitals. The program is mainly based on the Mannheim campus but includes activities in Heidelberg, and allows students access to a strong local network of health and life science research alliances.
