The Bachelor’s program in Protestant Theology at the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Theology, Ruprecht Karls University Heidelberg, offers a specialized and interdisciplinary curriculum. Students explore key Christian sources (Old and New Testament), church history, and systematic theology using historical-critical and modern academic methods. The program integrates biblical traditions, ecclesiastical history, and theological issues with broader cultural, social, and scientific contexts. Students develop the ability to analyze religious phenomena, reflect on Christianity's relevance to modern societal questions, and communicate theological insights in academic and public discourse. The program is available as a 25% or 50% major, with language of instruction in German and English, and may be selected with an education (teaching) track if desired.
