Cambridge’s BA (Hons) Asian and Middle Eastern Studies combines intensive language training with in‑depth study of history, culture, politics, literature, thought and society across East Asia and the Middle East. Students choose from languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Sanskrit and Hindi, and spend a year abroad to consolidate advanced proficiency before returning for higher‑level content papers in years 3–4. The Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies outlines undergraduate pathways across Middle Eastern Studies, Chinese Studies, and Japanese Studies with structured paper options and cultural study integrated with language learning.
