The program is designed to prepare educators to teach grades 1–6, equipping them with the skills to address both general elementary teaching and the needs of students requiring moderate support. The curriculum integrates evidence-based practices for special education, including planning individualized instruction and using technology and collaborative approaches. Students complete both coursework and practicum experiences in inclusive and specialized settings, becoming eligible for Massachusetts initial licensure in both elementary and moderate support needs areas. The program emphasizes ethical and culturally responsive practices, assessment strategies, and family/community engagement to advance learning for all students, including those with learning disabilities or developmental differences.
