The Master of Arts in World Literature at Case Western Reserve University is an interdisciplinary graduate program housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. This program emphasizes comprehensive study in both World Literature and a second discipline (e.g., Cognitive Linguistics, Philosophy, or another relevant field). Students must be admitted to both the World Literature program and the associated department. The curriculum combines coursework and research in both chosen disciplines, culminating in an interdisciplinary thesis project reflecting expertise across both areas. The plan of study is closely supervised by directors from both departments and requires formal approval and oversight by faculty committees. Graduates are expected to show familiarity with core literature, theoretical frameworks, and the methodologies of both World Literature and their secondary discipline.
