The new Bachelor of Religious Studies and Theology program at the University of Zurich's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences starts in Autumn 2025. This interdisciplinary mono-bachelor program combines religious studies – exploring religious traditions, their societal impact, and empirical research methods – with theology, which examines biblical texts, Christian history, ethics, philosophy, and contemporary church practice. The program is delivered fully online in English, offering flexibility and access for global students. Core modules include approaches to the study of religion, religious traditions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism/Hinduism, alternative religions), biblical traditions, Christian practices, ethics and religion, hermeneutics and philosophy of religions, digital religion/theology, social scientific approaches, and the history of Christianity. Students can specialize in either field. Career prospects include journalism, consultancy, churches, education, museums, NGOs, and further academic research.
