The MSc Marine Sciences at the Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University, offers multidisciplinary and cutting-edge training in the broad and rapidly developing field of marine sciences. The programme covers the physical, chemical, biological, and geological processes in oceans, and integrates law and policy aspects. Students explore historical, present, and future ocean systems, focusing on real-world issues such as climate change, energy, pollution, maritime traffic, fisheries, and coastal protection. The curriculum allows for fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and modelling, providing access to leading research groups and world-class facilities including collaborations with the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ).
