The MSc in Farm Animal Health and Veterinary Public Health at Utrecht University’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is a graduate program designed to prepare students for careers as certified veterinarians specializing in farm animal health, public health, and related research fields. The program addresses veterinary societal responsibility, ethical use of experimental animals, hygiene and microbiological/pathological diagnostics, epidemiology, animal health management, and food safety. Students undertake academic coursework, externships in companion and equine animal medicine, private practice placements, and independent research. Multidisciplinary collaboration and 'One Health' approaches are emphasized throughout the curriculum. Graduates are qualified to practice veterinary medicine in Europe, the US, and Canada. The program is taught primarily in Dutch, with English textbooks frequently used.
