The Bachelor in Languages, Literature and Communication at Utrecht University’s Faculty of Humanities provides a comprehensive education in the fundamentals of language, literature, and communication. Students study language both as a system and as a tool for interpersonal and cultural exchange, covering topics in linguistics, comparative literature from antiquity to modern times, and communication sciences. The program’s interdisciplinary approach enables students to analyze and compare different languages and literary traditions while understanding the societal role of language and literature. Courses are available in both English and Dutch, with some specializations requiring advanced language proficiency. Students are encouraged to develop critical, research, and analytical skills, and have opportunities for study abroad and participation in academic associations.
