The Bachelor of Media and Culture programme at Utrecht University's Faculty of Humanities offers students an in-depth study of media across a range of contexts, including film, television, digital media, theatre, and dance. The programme examines how media shape and reflect cultural, social, and political issues, and how they transform our understanding of the world. Students will learn about the history, theory, and social and technological contexts in which media operate, developing both critical academic and research skills that enable them to analyze media and cultural phenomena as aesthetic objects, institutions, and active agents in society. The program combines lectures, seminars, group work, and independent study. There is the possibility to take electives and tailor study paths, and internships are encouraged for practical experience.
