The fully online Master of Science in Science Communication at Stony Brook University prepares graduates to effectively communicate scientific concepts and discoveries to broad and diverse audiences. The program combines foundational training in social science theory, communication research, and hands-on, practical coursework—including improvisation and digital media skills—to prepare students to be effective boundary-spanners between science and society. Two academic concentrations are offered: General and Climate Communication. The degree requires 33 credits (18 core, 15 elective), culminating in a capstone project tailored to each student's interests and career goals.
