The Bachelor of European Studies at the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Humanities is an interdisciplinary programme designed to explore Europe’s dynamic past and present. The curriculum combines history, culture, politics, law, economics, and international relations to provide a comprehensive perspective on European affairs. Students gain insight into the institutions, traditions, and populations of Europe and their constant changes, with a strong focus on issues shaping European identity and the EU’s place in the world. The programme features a shared first year, after which students specialise in one of six majors: European Culture, European History, East European Studies, European Law, European Politics, or European Economics. Language acquisition is integrated as a core component, and students benefit from an international classroom. The programme is taught in English, starts each September, and is awarded the degree 'Bachelor of Arts (BA)' upon successful completion.
