The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mining) at The University of Adelaide is a four-year undergraduate program designed to equip students with analytical, design, and hands-on skills essential to mining engineering. The curriculum, refreshed based on the modern Mining Education Australia (MEA) framework, incorporates new developments in mining technologies and industry standards. Students gain a strong foundation in mathematics and science in the first two years, then specialize in mine design, rock mechanics, mine planning, and management. The only program in South Australia covering this field, it offers a unique major in Mine Automation (including artificial intelligence, robotics, and big data) and minors in Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Engineering. The degree also mandates eight weeks of approved engineering work placement and qualifies graduates for Engineers Australia professional membership.
