The Master of Theological Studies (MTS) at Harvard Divinity School is a versatile graduate degree designed for rigorous broad study in religion, with opportunities to concentrate in one of 20 areas such as Islam. Students may use the program to prepare for doctoral work, careers in academia, or professions impacted by theological study including law, journalism, education, public policy, arts, or healthcare. The Islamic Studies focus allows in-depth exploration of Islamic texts, histories, thought, and their place within broader religious studies frameworks. The program draws on extensive faculty expertise and over 200 courses each year, fostering interreligious and critical engagement.
