The Dual Degree program allows highly talented and motivated students to earn both a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) or Bachelor of Science (S.B.) degree at Harvard College and a Master of Music (M.M.) degree at New England Conservatory (NEC) or Berklee College of Music in a combined five-year curriculum. Students complete Harvard's four-year undergraduate program while taking private lessons and preparatory classes at NEC or Berklee. Harvard-NEC students typically transition to the NEC master's portion after completing their Harvard degree, while Harvard-Berklee students can apply to Berklee's master's program during their senior year. The program provides rigorous academic and musical training, combining the resources of Harvard's liberal arts education and world-class conservatory or contemporary music instruction. Areas covered include music theory, history, composition, ensemble performance, and specialized studies at the chosen conservatory.
