The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies at Harvard College, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, is an interdisciplinary undergraduate concentration designed to foster a critical understanding of East Asia. Students develop proficiency in an East Asian language and choose from an extensive range of courses focusing on the societies, histories, politics, and cultures of China, Japan, Korea, or Vietnam. The program encourages both broad study of East Asia as a whole and depth in one or more specific societies, blending language acquisition, seminars, tutorials, and research experiences. Students receive guidance from faculty mentors and have access to Harvard’s vast library and cultural resources.
