The Bachelor of Arts in Classics at Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences is an interdisciplinary program exploring ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. The curriculum integrates language study (Greek and/or Latin, with no prior experience required), linguistics, literature, archaeology, art, architecture, history, philosophy, science, medicine, myth, and religion. Students may start ancient languages from scratch or continue at an advanced level. The program fosters critical thinking, effective communication, and cross-disciplinary analysis, providing access to a diverse and intellectually vibrant academic community. Students are encouraged to explore the whole range of Greco-Roman civilization from the Bronze Age through Byzantium and beyond. At least 16 credits must be completed on campus. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree from Harvard.
