The MSCS at Northeastern University’s Khoury College of Computer Sciences, including programs at Mills College at Northeastern University, is designed to equip students with deep knowledge and hands-on experience in computer science. The curriculum emphasizes three core breadth areas—systems and software, theory and security, and artificial intelligence and data science—and allows customization through a wide range of electives. The program supports both students with and without prior CS background (via the Align program), featuring experiential learning through co-ops and internships with tech leaders.
Coursework covers core subjects such as Programming Design Paradigm and Algorithms, with electives available in areas like AI, databases, machine learning, security, distributed systems, and web development. Students must complete at least 32 graduate semester hours (MSCS), or 36–44 semester hours for Align students (additional bridge courses are required). Graduates gain strong foundations for roles in tech, advanced research, or specialized industry careers.
