The Master of Arts in English at Northeastern University provides two years of intensive, graduate-level study in major fields of British and American literature, as well as opportunities for advanced work in creative writing. The program immerses students in the critical debates, historical perspectives, and methodologies that animate literary study today. Courses cover all areas of English and American literature, as well as rhetorical criticism, teaching of writing, and creative writing. Specialized workshops in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction are available. Graduates are well-prepared for further doctoral study or for careers in teaching, publishing, writing, law, and related fields.
