The Bachelor of Arts in Media and Screen Studies at Northeastern University's College of Arts, Media and Design combines analytical and practical coursework to explore the history, theory, and production of media and screen culture. Students learn to critically analyze media, study its role in social change and history, and gain hands-on experience with media production. The curriculum includes core requirements (such as Media, Culture, and Society; Media History; Media and Social Change), writing-intensive electives (including Film Theory and Documentary Film Ethics), production or theory foundations, diversity/globalization perspectives, and a capstone project. Five additional electives enable specialization in diverse areas such as video production, TV studio, digital editing, and special effects. The program emphasizes both academic foundation and applied skills, supported by experiential learning through co-op and global opportunities.
