Africana Studies at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities is an interdisciplinary undergraduate program exploring the historical, cultural, social, economic, and political experiences of Black people throughout the world. Students may focus on African American Studies or broader African/Diasporic Studies, with courses in history, gender, health, media, literature, politics, and global Black cultures. The program stresses critical thinking, research, experiential learning, and community engagement, offering foundational courses, thematic electives, a senior capstone, language proficiency, and the option for two full co-op experiences.
